Community

At Stark & Marsh, we are proud to be a part of your community. We aim to lead by example, and support the needs of our home communities through scholarships, donations, volunteering, and organizing community events and projects.

Go Green

I feel so good that, as a client of Stark & Marsh CPA LLP, your Professional and Support staff actually go out and work with the volunteers on this particular project.  I realize, of course, that Stark Marsh donates to many causes but, in my opinion, GO GREEN is special in so many ways.  Your energy and dedication will benefit Swift Current for many years into the future. The idea, positive message, people working together for common good, and past/present/future results rate an A+ in my records.  – Joan Willliamson

Go Green began in 2009, after consultations with the City of Swift Current revealed a need for a fall clean up in and around the city. As a corporate citizen, we are committed to our environment and proudly organize this event each year. Go Green draws over 100 community participants annually, including Stark & Marsh employees and clients. As a result, Go Green has contributed to the planting of over 2,200 trees and shrubs.

Some Go Green projects include:

  • Tree and shrub planting
  • Landscaping
  • Pathway clean up
  • Flower bed maintenance
  • Mulching

2017 Outcome

Stark & Marsh CPA LLP and Innovation Credit Union held the 9th Annual Go Green event September 15th 2017. Project sites were based around the preparation needed to host the 2019 Summer Games. Sites included flag court, slow pitch diamonds, BMO Courtyard, St. Pats School, Credit Union iPlex, Riverdene, Riverside, Kiwanis, and Elmwood parks, and the Gladstone tree buffer. In only one day volunteers planted 73 trees, 145 shrubs, and 500 perennials.

Our BBQ was held over the noon hour; catered by Country Hills Catering; with live music provided by Bakersfield! All proceeds raised ($525.00) at the BBQ were donated back into our community. This year’s non-profit was Southwest Crisis Services.

We’d like to thank the businesses in our community that volunteered their time; Great Plains College, Mercator Financial, Swift Current Chamber, Matrix Solutions, and the Dr. Noble Irwin Foundation. Without your commitment to our community this day wouldn’t be a possibility.

We are very proud of the work we have done and will continue to do. We are also very thankful for all the Go Green participants each and every year for making each event a success! Visit our Facebook page for photos of the day.

  10. The Swift Current United Way Day of Caring is taking place this week, June 5-9th and Stark & Marsh spent Wednesday afternoon with Southwest Homes and the Salvation Army.

The Swift Current United Way had seven community agencies in need of various projects including general yard cleanup, painting, and even a small bathroom renovation. These agencies submit projects based on need and without Day of Caring many of these organizations wouldn’t have the manpower or time to complete them.

We would like to send a special thanks to Robertson Rentals for delivering and picking up a rototiller from our Salvation Army project site! Without your kind generosity our volunteers may still be at the project site.

  11. Our wonderful management team is taking some much needed time out of the office to collaborate and brainstorm at their annual manager retreat. In the meantime some of them are hiding out in the woods. Apparently they’ve had enough meetings?

  12. We’d like to thank Town of Shaunavon and Shaunavon Communities in Bloom for allowing Stark & Marsh to adopt the Town of Shaunvon planter as a mini Go Green project. We’re hoping for sun this summer so we can spend lots of time maintaining it!

  13. Did you know the SPCA has over $300,000.00 in operating costs on an annual basis and they receive no federal or provincial funding? All their funds are raised through community support initiatives and donations. Stark & Marsh covered the cost of their BBQ so all donations from their BBQ could be given directly to the organization.

  14. Nadine Dyck with Stark & Marsh was one of the many local Swift Current professionals that attended Saskatchewan Fashion Week in Regina.
